Yoga Shala Granada
Hola, Namaskar
I am Rocío Mascaraque, an Iyengar Yoga teacher. I live in Granada, but I was born in Madrid and began my journey into the science of yoga in Cambridge, England.
My personal search for each person’s original path led me to this ancient discipline, where I have been able to recognize our ability to awaken consciousness as a way forward.
I have been practicing yoga since 2003 because it brings me mental peace, serenity, and physical well-being. I use yoga as a tool for life and as a means of personal growth.
My beginnings
I started practicing Iyengar Yoga in 2003 at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre in England, while I was working as an assistant director for a company dedicated to chemical engineering and the environment.
A few years later, I became a student at the Iyengar Yoga School in Madrid-Sol, directed by Patxi Lizardi. During that time, I felt a great boost in my yoga practice, which significantly improved my physical and mental health.
In 2009, I attended the London Convention organized by Dr. Geeta S. Iyengar, where I studied intensively with her for a week, which marked a turning point in my commitment to yoga practice.
From that moment, I knew I wanted to study yoga forever.
My connection with Yoga in Granada
In 2011, I moved to Granada. That’s when I joined Yoga Estudio Granada, first as a student and later as a teacher. I was fortunate to work alongside Eladia Martinez, the center’s director and teacher, whom I hold dearly in my heart.
I have been part of the teaching team at Yoga Estudio Granada and participated in organizing the Iyengar Yoga Convention held in Granada at the Barceló Granada Congress Hotel in 2017, where Bobby Clennell was the guest teacher
